Who is this brother?

Greg Hahn (that’s me) grew up in the 60s and 70s in all-white, Scottsburg, Indiana, where I learned all the culture, both good and bad, of that time and place.

I spent considerable time in Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Methodist churches and drew my appreciation for church tradition from all of them. But it was at First Assembly of God in Rockford, IL that I made a commitment to Christ that stuck for life as a young man of 22 years of age.

I’m an inerrantist. I’ve toyed with other ways of thinking, and I certainly don’t have everything worked out to my satisfaction but I believe the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy best describes my understanding.

I listen to the teachers God has given the church, but I read the Bible for myself and I think for myself, hopefully with the aid of the Holy Spirit.

It was in my personal quiet time with the Lord that I discovered Genesis 3:16 and it dawned on me that male rule over females was not part of God’s original paradise, but rather what I now know as patriarchy came about as the result of mankind’s fallen nature. While I had several questions regarding a few other scriptures, most of those have been answered to my satisfaction.

I’m still growing as a Christian and as a man, and that means I reserve my right to learn and change my mind accordingly as I go.

But for the time being, I’ll write about how things look from this brother’s perspective and thus help fulfill God’s calling and purpose for my life.

That’s all a brother can do.
